1/3 cup shortening
2 tablespoons corn syrup (Karo)
1/4 teaspoon salt
3-1/2 cups confectioners sugar
1 tablespoon grated orange peel
1/4 cup orange juice
This should make enough frosting to cover 2 layers of 9" round
Combine shortening, corn syrup, salt, 1 cup sugard, and orange peel. Add remaining sugar and orange juice alternately, mixing until smooth and creamy. Add more sugar to thicken or more juice to thin frosting if required, until it reaches spreading consistency.
