Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients

2 1/2 cups sifted enriched flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

3/4 cup shortening, soft

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 cup brown sugar

2 eggs

1/4 cup milk

2 1/2 cups rolled oats, uncooked

1 cup seedless raisins, chipped

Directions

Sift first 5 ingredients together into a large bowl
Add shortening, sugars, eggs, and milk; mix until smooth, about 2 minutes
Stir in oats and raisins, chill in fridge
Roll out on lightly floured board to 1/4" thickness
Cut with floured 3" cookie cutter and place on greased cookie sheet
Sprinkle lightly with granulated sugar, if desired
Bake in moderate oven (375F) for 10 to 12 minutes
Move from cookie sheets to cooling rack immediately
