3/4 lb hamburg
1/4 lb ground pork
1 small onion
1/2 cup mashed potatoes (use a hand masher)
1/4 teaspoon salt
pepper to taste
sage and poultry seasoning to taste
The following additional spices were crossed out in the modified recipe using 3 lb hamburg and 3/4 lb ground pork
3/4 teaspoon salt
35 turns of pepper grater
2 medium onions
mashed potatoes
3/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning
1/4 teaspoon coriander
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1/4 teaspoon sage
pinch of basil
2 teaspoon accent
add diced onion, hamburg, ground pork to pan and cook brown until all meat is cooked
Cover mixture with water, cover the pan and let simmer for 30 minutes
In a separate pan, bring potatoes (peeled and diced) to boil until easily pierced with a sharp knife. Mash potatoes with a hand masher.
Drain water and fat from meat.
Add mashed potatoes to cooked meat mixture, mix thoroughly until almost pasty.
Add spiced, mix thoroughly to combine.
Let sit for 15 minutes, taste and adjust spices to taste
If using poultry seasoning I would not use additional allspice. Other versions of her meat pie recipe called for Bell's poultry seasoning and sage
